Taekwondo and Judo

    What do I need to bring to my first Taekwondo/Judo class?

    A

    Bring an open mind and remember to wear your comfortable, loose fitting workout clothing. Remember 1st class is COMPLIMENTARY!!

    Is Taekwondo/Judo Sparring open to beginners?

    A

    AAMAF students will be required to have at least 2-3 months minimum instruction prior to being able to free spar. Instructor approval required and at the student's comfort level.

    Are uniforms required for Taekwondo and Judo classes?

    A

    For first complimentary class uniform is not required. However, purchase of an AAMAF uniform for Taekwondo and Judo classes are required for any further training. See Uniform Order Form link>>

    How long does it take to earn your black belt in Taekwondo and/or Judo?

    A

    Unlike many popular sports and physical activities martial arts has no off season. Depending on frequency of attendance, training about 2 to 3 times per week a black belt can be earned in about 3 years. A judo student, or Judoka, can earn a black belt in about 5 years with the same 2 to 3 times per week training, Judokas must be at least 13 years old to earn their 1st degree blackbelt.

    How often does an AAMAF student test for belt advancement?

    A

    Belt testing occurs about every 2 months of the calendar year. However, individual testing frequency is based on the level of the belt being tested for, the comfort level and state of preparedness of the student and the head instructors recommendation. Testing for beginning students may occur every 2 to 4 months. Intermediate students can expect to test about every 4 to 6 months and advanced/black belt students test frequency ranges from 6 to 12 months.

    Do AAMAF students attend/compete in tournaments?

    A

    AAMAF students are invited to several tournaments throughout the calendar year sponsored and governed by the World Martial Arts Federation. AAMAF students have the option to compete in these tournaments.

    Can I stay and watch my family member during class?

    A

    Yes, there is a waiting/seating area where you are able to stay and watch class!

 Boxing and Kickboxing

What does a boxing or kickboxing bootcamp class include?

Q

 The boxing and kickboxing bootcamp classes entail a "fight fitness" approach. You will learn the proper technique of punching, kicking, body movement, defensive strategies all while utilizing various equipment such as heavybags, focus mitts, thai pads, and a boxing ring. This "fight fitness" approach offers the full experience of fight training without contact.

What do I need for my first class?
An open mind and confidence!! You already did the hardest part in showing up .Now let us help you reach your full potential and enjoy an hour of high-energy, fat burning total body exercise.  We also suggest that you wear comfortable, loose fitting workout apparel. We provide a limited number of used gloves for first time students. For other future classes, proper hand protection (hand-wraps/boxing gloves) are required.

Do you sell or offer any hand wraps or boxing gloves at the gym?

Yes, there is a pro-shop located inside our gym, where we offere various boxing gloves and hand wraps.

Do I need any prior experience? Are there any age restrictions to the boxing/kickboxing bootcamp classes?

 Prior experience is absolutely not required. Our boxing and kickboxing bootcamps are designed for all fitness levels. Ages 13+ for bootcamp classes.
